Above: the shawl I made for my Nana
Baby hat & booties (one set of many made)

This is the black beanie I made for my hubby, it's popcorn on the bottom then purling on the top. It's a little larger than average for his big mellon :)

This is the first hat that I made...I lovingly refer to it as the ugly hat....

It's Halloween decorating time so yes these are props... Next are the fingerless gloves that I made.

MONDAYS!! eek!

I didn't get a whole lot of knitting done this weekend, but I did give a hat & booties at a Baby shower that I attended. I received my custom labels Friday night, just in time. I sewed the tag on what is essentially the outside of the hat but it's the bottom so you end up flipping it up to make the edge of the hat...That sounds more complicated than it is...I swear pictures are coming soon!
My friend Mimi stopped over on her way home to Philly and she was saying that a lot of her girlfriends in Philly are doing the whole reclaimed yarn thing. It's way easy and a great way to recycle. I showed her my latest bootee / hat combo and she approved saying "oh my god how cute, okay I have to put them down they're making my ovaries hurt." That's Mimi for ya :)
So I have one more set and I should be done for a while.
NEWS ALERT:
Lucy Magazine pg. 98 Has these things called infinity scarves being modeled. It's like a scarf with no ends, some are more drapey and others are snuggly...I don't know how I feel about someone charging 140.00 for a cable knit loop (bannanrepublic.com). They also said that they are everywhere...it just started getting chilly here so I haven't seen any of them yet...we'll see...Okay I have to go do homework. PICTURES COMING THIS WEEK!!! *I'll try, I swear!*

Sunday Knitting

So I decided to gauge down the baby hats that I'm making for friends and family that are expecting new bundles...The hat was a little too big, so I went from a US10 to a US6.... the boots are a US8...I'm using the softee baby in blue right now...and it's the Glamour-Baby's Hat from lionbrand.com. If you sign up for their site they have a ton of free patterns.

**So you don't have to learn the hard way...
When a baby pattern says ( ) many balls for a project, check the yardage. I did not and bought A.C. Moore balls and now I have more baby pink yarn than I know what to do with....

I've also learned a lot about dye lots, I wanted to use this Baby Cashmere in Carnation. I needed three so I didn't use it, and then I found the same yarn at my local store. Bought it, not a match....I really don't know what to do with all of that mess right now.

On a non-knitting note: I drug up all of my winter clothes from the basement, and did the fit / not fit game. I'm much pickier about my sweaters now that I'm knitting...I'm not even close to making my own yet...one day...

okay here we...GO!

So this is my first "real" blog that hasn't been tied to some friend networking site. I know there's half my novel floating around in cyberspace because Friendster is awful! I'm a Full TIME Grad student, wife, daughter, bookseller, knitter, consumer, web browser, facebook stalker, with not enough time and too many projects. From time to time I hope to post my own variations on patterns that I use and then my own patterns. I'll also start taking much better photos of my knitting projects... :) Wish me luck!
